Almost seven months ago, it was noted that the Motor City Machine Guns were being advertised for an indie show the same night TNA was holding a pay-per-view, indicating they were departing the company, with the big question becoming whether they would end up in WWE or AEW. However, after Alex Shelley posted and then deleted an Instagram Story featuring music from Def Rebel, it appeared they were WWE-bound, with it speculated they would make their NXT debut during the premiere episode on The CW.

Still, after that didn’t happen, it now appears they are going straight to the main roster, with PWInsider.com reporting that the coming soon video that aired on SmackDown was for them.

“A coming soon vignette on Friday Night Smackdown aired, featuring footage that appeared to be from Detroit: It appears that the vignette would be for The Motor City Machine Guns.”

Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin first teamed in Pro Wrestling Zero1-Max back in 2006, and since then, they have established themselves as one of the top tag teams in the world, winning tag team gold in TNA, ROH, and New Japan. Additionally, both men have thrived in singles competition, having been TNA Heavyweight and X Division Champions. Yet, with them seemingly having signed for WWE as a duo, it appears their long-term future will remain as a tag team.
