    Jim Ross Explains Why Talents Should Feel Relieved Tony Khan Negotiated A New Deal With Warner Bros. Discovery

    Arguably, the most vital revenue stream for a pro wrestling company comes from television deals, and therefore, Tony Khan negotiating a mega-money new contract with Warner Bros. Discovery ensures that AEW has a future. And now, while discussing this on his podcast , Jim Ross has explained how this is good for talents in all promotions, noting that not everyone can work for WWE and that AEW’s travel schedule allows talents to have a family life.

    “Everybody can’t work in WWE. Everybody can’t make a living doing just the indies. So, I think AEW’s a good alternative without question, and it’s good for the talent and any time you can create an environment or a business plan that includes the enhancement of talents, you have a way to keep the talent happy, which is paying them, it’s a pretty good deal.

    Our company is unique in the sense the travel schedule for the talent is probably as good as it’s ever been in the history of pro wrestling. So, a guy’s got a chance, if they choose to, to have a life. To have a chance to be a dad or a mom or whatever, and so it’s a unique time in the business without question. Tony did a great job of cutting that deal, and a lot of talents should feel very relieved that it’s done, and they can continue to earn a good living in AEW and not be traveling all the time.”

    Back in the day, it is known that wrestlers’ schedules were horrendous, especially in WWE, with 300 days a year on the road not out of the ordinary. Therefore, it was far more likely a talent would miss a birthday, anniversary, or even the birth of their child than be there in person. And while things are much better nowadays, with requesting time off no longer frowned upon, AEW still has the advantage over WWE due to not regularly running house show
