WWE recently launched a new channel on YouTube airing archived content that most fans thought would never be shared. And now, in a decision that has delighted fans of 90s wrestling, the channel’s latest upload is a series of dark matches from 2003, in which Chris Kanyon returned to his Mortis character that he used in WCW between 1996 and 1998. In these, Mortis would face future ROH Champion Austin Aries and also form an odd-couple tag team with Funaki.

While showing plenty of potential in WCW, once Kanyon moved to WWE after Vince McMahon purchased his competitor, his career faltered due to a mixture of injuries and management not seeing him as a star. Sadly, this would see him released without ever being given a real chance to show what he could do, and after retiring from the ring a couple of times, he tragically took his own life aged just 40, with it later disclosed that he had bipolar disorder.
