69-year-old Roberts first debuted for AEW during their The Road to All Out special in 2019 and would re-appear on the March 4th, 2020, episode of Dynamite, confronting Cody Rhodes. Initially, he was on a short-term deal that kept being extended, but Tony Khan was so happy with his work that eventually, he signed him to a multi-year full-time contract.

Still, Roberts’ television time has been minimal in recent years, and therefore, his status with the company was uncertain. However, the WWE Hall of Famer has confirmed during an interview with The Wrestling Classic that he remains with the company and that he loves working for the company.

“It’s still going well. I’m still there. We’re just not doing much, I love it there. I love Tony Khan, man.”

Roberts broke into the business in 1975, and while he had success in multiple territories, his career skyrocketed when he joined WWF in 1986. From there, he was positioned as a featured character working with names like Honky Tonk Man, Rick Rude, André the Giant, Rick Martell, and Ted DiBiase, becoming one of the biggest babyfaces in the business. Yet, his career would be severely derailed in the ’90s due to addiction issues, which saw his standing in the industry plummet. Although, thanks to assistance from Diamond Dallas Page, he turned his life around and was rewarded with a WWE Hall of Fame induction in 2014.
