While plenty of fans desired CM Punk to return to WWE at last year’s Survivor Series due to it taking place in Chicago, few genuinely expected it. However, that is precisely what happened, and after discussing this memorable evening on O’Shea Jackson Jr.’s podcast, the WWE star has publicly shared a series of photographs taken that night for the first time via his Instagram Stories.

In these, he shows that he drove to the arena listening to Rancid, had his face covered when he entered the building, and signed his new contract moments before appearing in front of his loyal hometown fans.

AEW fired 45-year-old Punk in September 2023 following a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In, which was his second such incident in the company. Therefore, it appeared his career in mainstream pro wrestling was over due to having previously departed WWE on terrible terms almost a decade earlier. Still, with big money to be made, both Punk and WWE put their differences aside and agreed to work together, which so far has been incredibly beneficial for both sides.
