ECW Original Sabu Posts Heartbreaking Tweet

Sabu is undoubtedly a pro wrestling legend, having taken hardcore wrestling mainstream thanks to his runs in FMW and ECW. Still, at the age of 59, his time in the ring appears to be over, as he hasn’t wrestled since 2021. And now, with it known that he lives in constant pain, and his partner Melissa Coates tragically died three years ago, he has taken to X to heartbreakingly say, “ I don’t really enjoy any thing any more I just survive. ”

For those unaware, Sabu was one of the most innovative wrestlers of the 90s, and for a few years, people would debate whether he was the best performer in the world. However, the fact that he didn’t have long runs in major promotions and developed a reputation for not being the smoothest performer compared to the likes of Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart would prevent him from attaining this status with the masses.

Still, he would become a cult icon in ECW and was influential in putting the promotion on the map. Yet, this style of wrestling sadly destroyed his body, and in 2017, he had to undergo hip surgery, which, due to him never making big money, had to be funded by a GoFundMe campaign.
