Former AEW Wrestler Shows Off Horrific Burns After Catching Fire During GCW Show

Life has been challenging for deathmatch wrestler Joey Janela in recent months as after being hospitalized with gallstone pancreatitis earlier this year, he is again in need of medical assistance after being set on fire during GCW’s Saturday night show. This occurred in the Art Of War Games match featuring Jimmy Lloyd, Mance Warner, Bully Ray, and Matt Cardona against Janela, Effy, Matthew Justice, and Manders when the former AEW wrestler was slammed through a burning table.

Making this worse, Janela couldn’t get his t-shirt off after the bump , so he was literally on fire for a few seconds. However, while it is likely excruciatingly painful, Janerla was still able to share the aftermath on social media , which certainly isn’t for the faint-hearted.

35-year-old Janela was one of Tony Khan’s first signings for AEW, yet after initially receiving push, he would go on to mostly feature on their now defunct YouTube shows. Precisely why this occurred remains unknown, but it’s been speculated that Khan didn’t have a spot for him, having hired more prominent names. Still having built up a cult following on the indies and appeared on national television, he has no trouble picking up bookings, with GCW currently considered his home promotion.
