Stephanie Vaquer’s Forbidden Door match with Mercedes Moné proved the Chilean wrestler was ready for the big time, and it was initially thought AEW would make her All Elite. Yet, she actually joined WWE and now looks set to be a star in NXT, having recently debuted on their developmental brand.

Still, whether WWE would have ever signed her had she not worked for AEW remains uncertain, and this has again been a hot topic of conversation on social media after Moné stated in her weekly newsletter that “ I’d like to think our match had a say in that. ’ However, Vaquer has seemingly played Moné part down, having subsequently taken to her Instagram Stories and commenting on her own work ethic.

“When you work hard for a long time, it always brings rewards.”

31-year-old Vaquer broke into the pro wrestling business in 2009 in Chile, initially competing under the ring name Dark Angel. From there, she began working in Mexico, where she also had citizenship, and after establishing herself in the land of lucha libre, she would start getting booked in Japan, taking her career to the next level. And while she would receive a WWE tryout, as she was unsuccessful, it is easy to understand why some fans think she only got hired now due to appearing on AEW television.
