Bryan Danielson’s full-time in-ring career finished this past weekend when he lost the AEW Championship to Jon Moxley at WrestleDream in a match that will be long remembered by everyone who witnessed it. Yet, while Danielson has been saying he was planning on taking a break for a long time, the fact he requires neck surgery has made fans wonder whether he will ever return to the ring. And now, Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has addressed these during a recent Q&A session , noting that AEW has made no plans for Danielson to wrestle again as far as he is aware.

“There are no firm plans for Bryan Danielson to wrestle again that I’ve heard of. The door isn’t closed, but that isn’t his priority. His priority is his family and getting his neck fixed. He’s said he wants to come back in some capacity, but the severity of his physical situation became much more clear as he finished up.”

43-year-old Danielson was one of AEW’s biggest stars, having joined the company the same year he headlined WrestleMania 37 against Roman Reigns and Adam Copeland. However, his run has been continuously interrupted due to various injuries, including a broken arm and a broken orbital bone. Therefore, it’s probably for the best that he takes time to heal fully, and then perhaps he can wrestle the five to ten matches annually that he has previously said was his goal, whether they be for AEW or elsewhere.
