2 Cold Scorpio Arrested Following Stabbing
In troubling news, TMZ has reported that overnight, Charles Scaggs was arrested at a Love’s Travel Stop in Kansas City after stabbing a man. According to the report, the former WWE talent got into an argument with the person over his refusal to put out a cigarette, and after things got physical, Scaggs pulled a knife, the man was left “bleeding from his head, chest, buttocks, legs, and abdomen.“ Yet it should still be noted that 58-year-old Scraggs, better known to wrestling fans as 2 Cold Scorpio and Flash Funk, has claimed self-defense despite being charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Court documents also reveal he pleaded not guilty. Scraggs made headlines a few years ago after revealing on Dark Side of the Ring he intended to stab Road Warrior Hawk during their time in North Korea after the legendary tag team wrestler was allegedly racist towards him. And while that thankfully didn’t happen, given this incident, it does appear that Scraggs would have followed, though, had the situation not been de-escalated by Chris Benoit, of all people.
Passionate Jon Moxley Promo Goes Viral Following Bloodsport Bushido
This past weekend, AEW’s Jon Moxley was in Japan to compete in his sixth Bloodsport event and successfully defeated Josh Barnett following a 22-minute war. However, it wasn’t just the match that fans online were left talking about after the bout, but also the passionate promo Moxley gave where he calls pro wrestling “Just blood and guts. Blood, sweat, and tears. Just bones cracking. Just concussions. Just the will to win. Just the greatest sport in the world.” For those unaware, Bloodsport is an event that was launched by Game Changer Wrestling and features worked shoot matches in an MMA style. The first event was run in 2018 and was actually branded as Matt Riddle’s Bloodsport. Since then, it has been rebranded to Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport and become a highlight of the GCW calendar, with big names like Nic Nemeth, Eddie Kingston, and Minoru Suzuki having participated. Still, the brand became even more notable when WWE allowed Shayna Baszler and Charlie Dempsey to compete at their last US-based event.
Wrestling Couple Welcome Their Second Child Into The World.
Six months ago, Cassie Lee, better known to wrestling fans as Peyton Royce, took to social media to announce that she and her husband, Shawn Spears, were expecting their second child. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the former WWE and Impact Wrestling talent has confirmed via Instagram that she gave birth to a baby boy on Friday, whom they decided to name Harley Dean. Based on the limited amount of information available, it appears that both mother and son are doing well. Still, it seems likely they’ll have Spears around for at least a few weeks to help out, with WWE being much more family-friendly following Vince McMahon’s departure.
Whether AEW Is Considering Working With Shane McMahon.
With his father, Vince McMahon, having resigned from WWE due to the Janel Grant lawsuit scandal, some believe 54-year-old Shane McMahon’s time in the business could also be over. Yet, earlier this week, Conrad Thompson revealed during an episode of Jim Ross’ podcast that Shane has been in touch with some of AEW’s roster to discuss the possibility of joining the promotion. Still, based on an update by Fightful Select, it currently appears that it isn’t something being considered by AEW management. Shane McMahon began working for WWE when he was just 15, initially in their merchandise warehouse, before becoming a referee under the name Shane Stevens. However, he eventually began going by his own name, appearing alongside his father during his feud with Steve Austin and being used as a color commentator on Sunday Night Heat. From there, he occasionally began wrestling matches, with some of them surprisingly good, although for many fans, their lasting memory of him will be when he tore his quad at WrestleMania 39.
Former UFC Star Comes To The Defence Of Brock Lesnar For Sending “Naughty Text Messages”
Following the problematic allegations made against Brock Lesnar in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against WWE, Vince McMahon, and John Laurinaitis, the company quickly distanced itself from the former UFC star. They did this by canceling his participation in the men’s Royal Rumble match, making him unplayable in their latest video game, and slashing the price of most of his merchandise on WWEShop.com. And now, during an episode of the popular Flagrant podcast, Chael Sonnen has come to the defense of his fellow former MMA fighter, suggesting he should sue WWE. However, it should be noted that the legendary trash-talkers understanding of the lawsuit’s intricacies may be limited, as indicated by multiple inaccurate comments during the episode. 46-year-old Lesnar has chosen to remain silent on the allegations made against him in Grant’s lawsuit, a decision that is within his rights. Still, the situation has cast a dark shadow over his reputation, leading some to speculate that it may be irreparably damaged. Which if accurate, it could mark one of the most dramatic career downturns in the history of professional wrestling.
Gabbi Tuft To Wrestle First Match In Almost A Decade.
Earlier this year, Gabbi Tuft, formerly known as Tyler Reks in WWE, shared her inspiring story of being medically cleared to wrestle again after having open heart surgery in 2019. And now, the 45-year-old who transitioned from a man to a woman in 2021 has announced on social media that she is set to compete for the first time in almost a decade, thanks to West Coast Pro Wrestling on June 25. Tuft broke into the wrestling industry in 2007 and signed with WWE the following year, thanks to having a great look and plenty of charisma. Initially, she was treated as a big deal in the promotions’ developmental territory, FCW, but this success wouldn’t transfer to the main roster. Still, it did come as a surprise when she quit the company in 2012, shortly after debuting a stripper gimmick alongside then-tag partner Curt Hawkins. Yet, it later came out that she wanted to spend more time at home with her daughter Mia, who had been born the prior year.
SmackDown Has A New Head Writer
Within WWE, writers frequently come and go regularly due to how high-pressured and relentless the job can be. However, it can be very rewarding for those who last the course. And now, in a demonstration of someone paying their dues, Fightful Select has reported that longtime creative member John Swikata has been named the new head writer of SmackDown, with Ryan Callahan, previously in that role, having departed. Precisely what Swikata’s long-term creative vision for the show remains to be seen. However, this week’s episode of SmackDown was highly praised online, featuring Jacob Fatu’s debut and Drew McIntyre stunning the Chicago crowd with his attack on CM Punk.
TNA Star Was Backstage At AEW’s Recent Collision Taping
It’s well-known that AEW management is happy to open their backstage area for past and present wrestlers to visit friends and experience one of their tapings. And now, it has been reported by Fightful Select that TNA’s “Speedball” Mike Bailey was in attendance at Thursday’s AEW Collision, mixing with AEW’s talents. However, while he was officially visiting friends, with it known the 33-year-old’s TNA contract expires at the end of the year, there has already been speculation online he may have been checking out AEW as a potential future employer. Canadian-born Bailey, also known as Émile Baillargeon-Laberge, has a wrestling journey that is a testament to resilience. This is because, after spending a decade making his name on the indies, he suffered a severe setback in 2016 when he was banned from the United States for five years for trying to get into the country without the proper paperwork. Yet he didn’t let this discourage him from following his dream, and instead, he focused on wrestling in Europe and Japan, with DDT Pro and RevPro becoming his new home promotions.
Liv Morgan Parodies “Hawk Tuah Girl” Meme
If you’ve spent any time on social media in recent weeks, you’ve likely stumbled across Hailey Welch, now forever known as Hawk Tuah Girl. She would be named this after a clip of her saying, “Oh, you gotta give him that hawk tuah, and spit on that thang,” went viral, and a meme was subsequently born. And now, using this to garner attention, for herself and WWE, Liv Morgan has shared her own video on X, where she mocks this by giving the hawk tuah to her championship belt. Since becoming an internet sensation, Hawk Tuah Girl has started cashing in on her fame, having partnered with Tennessee-based Fathead Threads, where she is selling signed “Hawk Tuah ’24 Spit On That Thang” merchandise. And while it isn’t known how many items have been sold, the sheer number of comments and the immense popularity the meme has gained suggests she could be set for a large payday.
MJF Reveals Why He Opted To Re-Sign With AEW
MJF returned to AEW at Double or Nothing after missing five months due to injury and would share wrestling’s worst-kept secret that he had re-signed with the promotion. And now, having wrestled his first match since December during this week’s episode of Dynamite against Rush, the 28-year-old has disclosed during an interview with Fox 5 in New York why he opted to re-sign with AEW. Noting that, in addition to Tony Khan paying him a massive amount of money, which most presumed, he also feels that AEW has the best wrestlers in the world. MJF’s pro wrestling journey began in 2015, and he would attempt to accelerate his career through WWE’s Tough Enough, although he wasn’t selected. Despite this, he wouldn’t be put off, and he honed his skills on the indie circuit before joining MLW and then AEW. Subsequently, his charisma, mic skills, and ability to blur the line between reality and storylines propelled him up the ranks in Khan’s promotion. With notable feuds with wrestling icons like Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, and CM Punk going on to solidify his status as a true main event star.
Speculated Reason Jacob Fatu’s WWE Debut Took So Long To Happen
Jacob Fatu finished with MLW this past February, and it was noted just before WrestleMania XL that WWE had signed him. However, while he has now made his debut during this week’s SmckDown, taking out Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, and Kevin Owens, the reason for the delay has sparked curiosity. And now, a likely cause for this wait has been speculated by Fightful Select, who suggested his criminal record, which would have prevented him from attending Backlash in France or Clash at the Castle In Scotland, was the potential reason. 32-year-old Fatu broke into the business back in 2012 after being trained by his uncle Rikishi, and since then, he has slowly been building up his reputation on the indies and MLW. Still, it’s understood that some larger promotions were put off using the father of seven due to his aforementioned criminal record, which saw him incarcerated for six years as an 18-year-old for robbery.
The Man Many Hold Responsible For The Demise Of WCW Has Died
The demise of WCW is currently a hot topic of conversation among wrestling fans online, thanks to the Vine docuseries “Who Killed WCW?” taking fans back to the turbulent days of the now-defunct promotion. This has seen many of the biggest names in the industry at the time blamed, including Eric Bischoff, Vince Russo, and Hulk Hogan. However, many hold former Turner Broadcasting executive Jamie Kellner ultimately responsible as he canceled the programming. Yet before the series concludes and hopefully definitively answers the long-asked question, Variety has sadly reported that Kellner passed away at his home in Montecito, California, on...
Paige VanZant’s Next Career Move Announced
Former UFC fighter Paige VanZant looked to have everything needed for a successful career in pro wrestling due to her athleticism, toughness, and charisma. However, after only wrestling one match for AEW, she began skipping her training sessions with former WWE star Gangrel, and it was recently confirmed that she had departed the company. And now, just weeks after she struggled to a split decision draw with adult actress Elle Brooke in a boxing match, it has been announced on social media that she is set to compete in Power Slap on June 28. For those unaware, UFC chief executive officer Dana White owns Power Slap, and it originally aired on TBS following AEW Dynamite. Yet because it couldn’t keep wrestling fans from tuning out, it would soon be canceled and now airs on the streaming platform Rumble. Yet despite being so readily available, it still struggles to do significant numbers, as even combat sports fans find it too brutal, with neurologist Nikolas Evangelou calling it a “recipe for disaster.“
Matt Hardy Reveals Who He Holds Responsible For The Hardys’ Lackluster AEW Run
When Jeff Hardy joined his brother Matt in AEW, it appeared to be the perfect place for them to have their final run as a tag team. This was because AEW takes tag team wrestling seriously, and given the brothers’ ages and the fact they have families, they would be working fewer dates and be on the road less. However, after Jeff was arrested for DUI, he would be suspended without pay and ordered to attend rehab. Thankfully, Jeff managed to get his demons under control and returned to AEW television, although neither he nor Matt was ever pushed as strongly...
Nick Hogan Sentenced For 2023 DUI Arrest.
In November 2023, news broke that Hulk Hogan’s son, Nick, had been arrested in the early hours in Clearwater, Florida. The former reality TV star was apparently on his way home from a bikini contest at his father’s restaurant and was pulled over by police after being clocked doing 51 miles per hour in a 40 miles per hour zone. He would then be booked under the suspicion of driving under the influence after he refused to take part in a sobriety test. Subsequently, he would plead not guilty, with it reported that he told police officers that the alcohol...
Blink 182 Pays Tribute To WWE Hall Of Famer
One of the most iconic entrances in wrestling history belongs to The Undertaker. An ominous gong signifies the arrival of “The Deadman,” and the eerie church organs/funeral procession music accompany his slow march to the ring. Pop-punk rockers Blink 182 kicked off their “One More Time” tour earlier this week in Orlando, Florida. The band paid tribute to “The Phenom” by using his entrance music as they took the stage shrouded in darkness. Video of the band’s entrance can be viewed below. Late last year, AEW star Billie Starkz shared that she hoped to someday use the band’s song, “Aliens Exist,” as her entrance music. “Dear @blink182, Please give me permission to use Aliens Exist for my entrance music everywhere,” Starkz wrote. “Also, would be really cool if you could do it live some time for me. Thanks.” Given AEW head Tony Khan’s frequent licensing of music for his stars, it seems a pretty good possibility that this could become a reality at some point.
More Information Reported Regarding Kayla Braxton’s Upcoming WWE Departure
On Saturday, WWE backstage interviewer Kayla Braxton took to social media to announce that she is departing the company following next week’s episode of SmackDown. And while she wouldn’t share details regarding her plans, Fightful Select has since reported that she has been working under a verbal agreement, and that AEW has been made aware of her employment status. There had recently been speculation regarding the 33-year-old’s future with the company after she updated her X username to include her legal name. Yet, no further information was available at the time, and fans quickly moved on. However, it now appears her next career move could be outside of the wrestling industry, as whether AEW would be interested in hiring her is unclear, given that they only just signed Alicia Atout.
Kayla Braxton Announces She Is Departing WWE
Several weeks ago, speculation arose about Kayla Braxton’s future with WWE as she changed her handle on social media to include her legal name. And now, confirming that there was a good reason for this, the SmackDown backstage interview has announced on X that she is departing WWE following next week’s episode of SmackDown. At present, her future plans remain undisclosed, although she states that she has been offered new opportunities, having moved to Los Angeles. 33-year-old Braxton, real name Kayla Becker, has been with WWE since 2016, debuting as a ring announcer on the October 20, 2016, episode of NXT. Subsequently, she’d be featured as a backstage interviewer on numerous pay-per-views in 2017 before permanently departing NXT and joining the main roster in August 2019. Additionally, at one time, she was the co-host of The Bump, which is WWE’s popular online interview show, although she would eventually leave this to focus on her other WWE commitments.
Violent J Explains Why He Put CM Punk On Blast
On Monday afternoon, Violent J of the Insane Clown Posse shocked pro wrestling fans when he posted a profanity-filled tirade against CM Punk on Instagram. At the time, what had set the rapper off wasn’t known; however, he has now explained during an interview with AdFreeShows.com that he had been scrolling social media while at the airport and stumbled across Punk’s past comments from All Out and simply decided, “F*ck this guy.“ Violent J, along with his ICP partner Shaggy 2 Dope, started out backyard wrestling before forming their controversial musical double-act. Subsequently, they leveraged their popularity and fame into working for multiple wrestling promotions, including WWE, WCW, ECW, and TNA. Additionally, in 1999, they started their own promotion, Juggalo Championship Wrestling, which still runs shows, with their last event taking place last Halloween and featuring talents including Joey Janela, Enzo Amore, and Mad Man Pondo.
Chris Jericho Discusses His Relationship With Hulk Hogan
Earlier this year, Chris Jericho talked about what it was like to work with Hulk Hogan. Jericho chatted with author Brad Balukjian (“The Six Pack: On The Road in Search of Wrestlemania”) for an episode of “Talk Is Jericho” about working with the wrestling icon when the pair were together in the WWE. On a new episode of “Talk Is Jericho” that dropped earlier this week, Jericho chatted with “Dark Side Of The Ring” creators Evan Husney and Jason Eisener about their new Vice series, “Who Killed WCW?” Jericho elaborated on his current relationship with Hogan and also revealed what...
