U.S. 281 resurfacing to start in Osborne County
The Kansas Department of Transportation expects to begin a resurfacing project on a portion of U.S. 281 in Osborne County on Monday, July 22. Project work will consist of a chip seal on 16.5 miles of pavement starting near County Road 412 and ending at the south city limits in Osborne. Traffic through the areas where crews are actively working will be directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should plan for delays of 15 minutes or less during daylight hours.
Basement of Belleville family under nine feet of water after flood
The Bujnak family purchased their home a year before a flood brought nine feet of water into their basement. Toilets, duct work, a fridge and holiday decorations were washed away or damaged beyond repair. Boil Water Advisory Rescinded for the City of Culver, Ottawa County
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has rescinded a boil water advisory for the City of Culver – public water supply system located in Ottawa County. The advisory was issued because the water system could not maintain the minimum required chlorine residual. Failure to maintain disinfection residual may put the system at risk for bacterial contamination.
Tanker fire south of Lyndon shuts down US 75
Update 9:49 a.m.: The Osage County Sheriff’s Office says the fuel truck was a 2017 Peterbilt carrying 3,500 gallons of diesel. MEDIA RELEASE – Recovered Stolen Vehicle & Warrant Arrests
On Thursday morning, July 18, 2024, at 6:41 AM, a law enforcement officer with the Pittsburg Police Department observed a vehicle that was not displaying any state issued license plates turn onto Amber Drive. The Officer turned his patrol vehicle around to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle and the vehicle pulled into the driveway of 1011 Amber Drive. The driver exited the vehicle and quickly entered the residence and closed the door behind him. Further investigation into the vehicle revealed it had been reported stolen out of Joplin, Missouri.
