Thursday night detour planned for John B. Dennis in Kingsport
One direction of John B. Dennis Highway will be closed Thursday night in Kingsport for bridge work. TDOT says that starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, the southbound lane will be closed at the bridge over the South Fork Holston River between Moreland Drive and Lincoln Street. Northbound traffic will not be affected. A detour will be in place directing drivers to follow Lincoln Street to Wilcox. Official say work will be complete and the detour lifted by 6 a.m. Friday.
Enrollment growing for Virginia’s four-year colleges, community colleges declining
(The Center Square) — College enrollment declined nationwide by 15% from 2010-21 and still hasn't returned to pre-pandemic levels, though the 2023-24 school year was the first since 2020 that schools saw an average increase in enrollment. Virginia colleges also experienced these trends but over a slightly shorter period.
