WEBSTER COUNTY, Iowa — The Webster County Sheriff’s Office says a “motorcycle enthusiast” was stopped early Thursday morning while going 136 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Sheriff Luke Fleener said it happened on Highway 169 at 12:50 a.m. and identified 20-year-old Noah Simpson as the operator of the 2013 Suzuki GSX-R600 road bike. Simpson was cited and released at the scene and has a court date scheduled for June 27th. If convicted, Sheriff Fleener said he could owe a $561 fine and the Iowa Department of Transportation could revoke Simpson’s driving status.

The WCSO shared the traffic stop on its Facebook page and said, “At this speed, this young man would have almost zero time to react had another motorist, deer, or something else been in his path.”

The WCSO called Simpson “lucky” to learn this lesson without being seriously injured — or worse.
