Four-county area loses respite care agency
After 42 years of serving area family caregivers, Hastings Respite Care Inc., no longer will be providing respite care services to Adams, Clay, Nuckolls and Webster counties. South Central Town Hall Caregiver Coalition, a separate entity that used to be overseen by Hastings Respite Care, will continue to host the annual Day of Caring for Those Who Care, an event held in late April at the Hastings City Auditorium that aims to help family caregivers learn about the importance of taking care of themselves. The event is sponsored by the South Central Town Hall Caregiver Coalition, various grants, and the Hastings Community Foundation’s Give Hastings Day event, which allows the day to be free for anyone caring for a loved one with special needs.
