He announced his decision on Friday.On his re-election website, Gainey touts that his administration has "secured the city's first-ever affordable housing bond, inject[ed] millions of dollars to address the city's housing affordability crisis; launched a historic re-investment in the City's infrastructure; reopened the police academy, negotiated a police contract; and led a transformation in core service responsiveness that is filling more potholes, plowing streets faster, and issuing more building permits."Gainey says there is still work to do to make Pittsburgh as safe and welcoming as possible.A recent poll showed a hypothetical primary matchup between Mayor Gainey and County Controller Corey O'Connor, with Gainey and O'Connor each polling 37% of Democrats with 25% undecided.

Report card: After scoring 51 goals in 2023, Ross continued where she left off. On Monday, she scored four goals and had two assists in Springdale’s 9-0 win over The Ellis School in Section 4-4A. Then Wednesday, the outside winger buried two more goals and had two more assists in another section win over Apollo-Ridge. The Dynamos are off to a 2-0 start in both section and overall.

A former first round pick, Yorke had committed to play baseball at the University of Arizona, before the Boston Red Sox selected him with the 17th overall pick in 2020. Because of the cancelation of the Minor League season during the Covid-Pandemic, Yorke didn't debut for the Red Sox organization until the fall of 2020, when he took part in their fall instructional league.

SANDUSKY, OHIO – The Allegheny volleyball team opened their 2024 campaign at the Great Lakes Cross Over in Ohio Friday (Aug. 30), defeating Heidelberg and Muskingum.
