For someone who lost the job that made him a household name, everything seems to be coming up Belichick these days.

Adding to a very busy post-coaching dance card, it was announced Thursday that former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will be a regular analyst on the revamped “Inside The NFL” show on The CW Network. Belichick joins a trio of former players he coached and coached against in the new cast in Ryan Clark, Chris Long and Chad Ochocinco.

Belichick’s Patriots had many famous battles with Clark’s Steelers in the 2000s, while Belichick coached Long in 2016 leading up to the great comeback in Super Bowl 51 (we’ll let Long playing for the Eagles in SB 52 slide). And none among us could forget Ochocinco’s 2011 Pats campaign. Actually since that was rather forgettable, let’s focus on some of the other great Belichick and Ochocinco dynamics.

Given Belichick’s knowledge of football and excellent on-camera ability to diagnose and break down the game, coupled with his rapport with Clark, Long and especially Ochocinco, this could make for some great football TV.

Said Belichick in a press release: “I’ve always appreciated Inside the NFL ‘s depth of analysis, and I hope to bring the same detailed insight to The CW by talking real football with real pros – Ryan, Chris and Chad – this coming season.”

Belichick might be almost as busy this fall as he was when he coached the Pats for 24 straight seasons. He is already slated to be a regular on Peyton Manning's “ManningCast” on ESPN2 during Monday Night Football broadcasts, in addition to making Monday appearances on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show”. While there’s no replacing him on the sidelines, if you like listening to Belichick break down football then the 2024 NFL season is shaping up pretty nicely for you, and him too.
