Yes, you read that headline correctly.

On Friday morning, Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown dropped the music video for a new song with well-known rapper FERG called “Just Do It.”

That title, of course, is an obvious reference to Nike, who Brown publicly blamed for his exclusion from Team USA’s men’s basketball roster ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics.

And it wasn’t just the title making reference to Nike, as Brown shared his gripes with the shoe company and USA Basketball throughout the 3 minute 45 second song.

Here are a few notable lines from the song and moments from the music video that seemingly (and sometimes overtly) are in reference to Brown’s beefs:

    - The video opens in a hotel room, with Brown flipping through TV channels as unidentifiable broadcasters discuss Brown being left off of Team USA, and say he was “blacklisted” due to his conflict with Nike. The references here are obvious.

    - The entire chorus is seemingly in reference to Nike and Team USA: “‘Cause I’m the only one they wanna f*** with now, but they be hating on the low. But I done took the game and flipped it upside down, balling ain’t the only thing I know.”

    - “Wanna f*** with now” in reference to being left off the team

    - “They be hating on the low” in reference to statements from Team USA trying to paint his roster omission as being basketball related

    - “Balling ain’t the only thing I know” in reference to Brown being vocal about issues outside of basketball - with Nike being a company he has called out in the past

    - “But now, you get replaced like a pair of shoes” is from the opening verse. This line is seemingly in reference to some sort of break-up Brown went through in the past, but it does not feel like a coincidence that he used a shoe metaphor here given the title and chorus of the song

    - Two lines from FERG, “Ballin', ain't the only thing we know,” and, “Ballin' ain't s*** if you don't know what your worth is,” echo sentiments from Brown’s chorus

This song is the latest oddity to come out of this summer for the Celtics, as the team has continued to generate surprising headlines throughout the months following their 18th championship in franchise history.

Outside of Brown’s various public beefs:

    - The Grousbeck family announced their intention to sell their majority stake in the team within two weeks of winning the title

    - Three-time All-NBA forward Jayson Tatum received little-to-no playing time as a member of Team USA in Paris , with his teammates Jrue Holiday and Derrick White having a much more tangible impact on the international tournament

    - An almost forgotten headline - only days after winning the NBA Finals, center Kristaps Porzingis underwent surgery to repair a rare leg injury he suffered during the postseason. His recovery time is five to six months, meaning he will miss the start of the title-defense season

Regardless of all the noise surrounding this team, both FanDuel (+300) and BetMGM (+310) have the Celtics as the odds-on favorites to repeat as NBA champions in the 2024-25 season.

Here are the lyrics to “Just Do It” by Jaylen Brown and FERG:

    [Intro: Jaylen Brown]

Open your mind, let the words flow (let the words flow)

Baby you was mine, I'd let the world know (I'd let the world know)

She rocking my jersey, all up in the stands

I learn how to touch her without using my hands

Problems too deep for any therapist

If we could run it back, would you cherish it?

    Uh, like I cherish you

But now, you get replaced like a pair of shoes

    [Verse 1: Jaylen Brown]

We drowning and I'm wasting my breath

Trying to keep these ****** who don't wanna be kept

We hiding our feelings but our eyes are speaking

We should leave or fall like it's autumn season

    But I'm not for monogamy

My heart is out of space, I'm talking astronomy

Weight up on our chest but you not as strong as me

If all we do is argue maybe you not the one for me

    Take one to see

But enough with all this sap s***

    Good ***** make a ***** do a backflip (Backflip)

My chick bad, she out here committing felonies

But do I give her long d*** or longevity?

Or I'll probably give her that long

If she go to sleep, she make me wrap her in an arm

'Fore she wake up, Forrest Gump, I'll be gone

And she think I'm 'bout to ****, she prolly smoking the strong

Listen, me and my ***** more gifted than Christmas

Every time I'm with the team, we taking they b******

Every time I'm on the scene, we taking 'em pictures

Every time we getting cream, we baking 'em swishas

Yeah, don't hate the player, hate the game (hate the game)

She'll just tell you, me and you just ain't the same (just ain't the same)

And I don't do this for the fame, boy

Studio the play station, this is not a game, boy

    [Chorus: Jaylen Brown]

'Cause I'm the only one they wanna f*** with now

But they be hating on the low

But I done took the game and flipped it upside down

Balling ain't the only thing I know

'Cause I'm the only one they wanna f*** with now

But they be hating on the low

But I done took the game and flipped it upside down

Balling ain't the only thing I know

    [Verse 2: FERG]

    Yeah, uh

    Swish!

Just landed in Beantown, stomp my feet down

Had to encore like the sweep down, life is sweet now

Bad Brazilian a** with the bounce, I caught the rebound

We the champions, confetti still up in the streets now

Ballin', ain't the only thing we know

I think it's kinda obviously, Jaylen up in the studio

I hit the big lotto when I'm calling my rubies rose

Getting big models walking out of them Louis shows

We getting paid, selling hope in these verses

Build a farewell for breaking the family curses

Ballin' ain't s*** if you don't know what your worth is

We divine design, everything been perfect

    [Pre-Chorus: Jaylen Brown]

Problems too deep for any therapist

If we could run it back, would you cherish it

    Uh, like I cherish you

But now, you get replaced like a pair of shoes

    [Chorus: Jaylen Brown]

'Cause I'm the only one they wanna f*** with now

But they be hating on the low

But I done took the game and flipped it upside down

Balling ain't the only thing I know

'Cause I'm the only one they wanna f*** with now

But they be hating on the low

But I done took the game and flipped it upside down (Uh)

Balling ain't the only thing I know

    [Hook: Jaylen Brown]

Balling ain't the only thing I know

Balling ain't the only thing I know

Balling ain't the only thing I know

Balling ain't the only thing I know

    [Outro: FERG]

    Yo, JB

These dudes out here actin' like it's all about this ballin' and all of that s***

But for real, it's about taking care of your family

That's the true ballin', you know what I'm saying
