The Red Sox are calling up another piece of the Alex Verdugo trade.

Richard Fitts - who came over to the Red Sox organization with Greg Weissert and Nicholas Judice in exchange for AVerdugo - is being promoted to the big league team Sunday. The news was first reported by Mass Live.

To make room for Fitts on the 28-man roster, Chase Shugart was optioned to Triple-A Worcester, while the 40-man roster spot was cleared by designating Bobby Dalbec for assignment.

The 24-year-old Fitts emerged as Triple-A Worcester's most dependable starting pitcher as of late, coming off six shutout innings in his latest outing, Monday. For August, the righty posted a 2.89 ERA in five starts.

For the season (his first in Triple-A), Fitts has gone 9-5 with a 4.17 ERA over 116 innings.

The potential spot in the rotation opened up when Alex Cora decided to bump Brayan Bello's start to Monday while pushing Tanner Houck back all the way to Friday.
