Grandpa Gets Caught Sneaking Toddler Triplets Root Beer in Classic Grandparent Move

When you're a parent, part of your job is to tell your kid "no" — probably more often than they want to hear it (or you want to say it!). When you're a grandparent, on the other hand, you get to be the person who tells your grandchildren "yes" when they ask for more ice cream or a new toy or an extra 30 minutes of screen time...especially if mom and dad aren't around to stop you!

In a hilarious video posted on July 9, a mom discovers her identical triplet toddler sons getting up to some mischief, courtesy of their grandpa: The kids and Pop-Pop are all hiding behind a bush, where the grandfather is sneaking the boys sips of his root beer...and they're pretty excited about their secret treat!

"Gotta keep an eye on that Pop-Pop," wrote @keepingupwiththekorzons . Such a sweet moment! This is a perfect example of typical grandpa hijinks, as commenters noted!

"What happens at Grandpa's stays at Grandpa's," wrote Kayleigh Gilbert.

"You wonder why they wanna visit Grandpa every time," wrote Luhambijr.

"Best Pop Pop ever!!! Priceless memories," wrote Lisa Ann.

It's true: Mom might not be thrilled about her little boys drinking soda, but the memory is worth a little extra sugar!

Why It's Okay to Let Grandparents Spoil Your Kids

As Melissa L. Fenton wrote for Scary Mommy, while it might be frustrating for parents when grandparents indulge their children , the experience can actually be beneficial for kids.

"In a nutshell, grandparents have paid their dues, done their time, and have survived raising children so well-adjusted and successful that they grew into adults who gave them grandchildren. And they deserve a set of those grandkids to spoil rotten in every way they can imagine, because they know those kids are in desperate need of a 'yes' parent every once in a while — and that’s the grandparent. At home, things will get back to 'normal' — teeth will be brushed, bedtimes will be enforced, and candy will be minimized — and a brief 'grandparent hangover' is a small price to pay for the memories made and relationships fortified."

Grandparents know just how fast childhood really does go by, which is another reason why they want to make their grandchildren as happy as possible while they can. It's up to parents to shape and discipline their children, but grandparents are free to focus on showering kids with unconditional love...and sometimes that might include a little root beer!
