UNION COUNTY, Ky. (WEHT) – Two days after severe weather destroyed homes and turned lives upside down, Governor Andy Beshear spoke with those who lived through it.

Crystal Haller and Jesse Sheffer walked Governor Beshear through what used to be their home, now, just a pile of debris scattered across the landscape. Haller, Sheffer and their three daughters were inside the home when the storm hit.

“The house started to shake real crazy, and then we felt us lift up,” Haller tells us.

The storm threw Haller and one of her daughters in to the air and dropped them in the grass. The other two daughters were found under a mattress, pinned by debris.

Governor Beshear took time to talk with each homeowner.

“The damage we see today, with no major injuries shows that God is good even when it is tough,” Beshear said. “We see the worst of the worst when these storms come through, but you see the best of the best of people in the immediate aftermath.”

Gov. Andy is a Bluegrass Boy through and through. Even in a deep red state like Kentucky, we appreciate heart and character, and he demonstrates both with compassion and respect for Kentuckians. I don't care about politics, I care about welfare for the people, and Andy never lets us down. I'll always support him.
