HAUBSTADT, Ind. (WEHT) – The best sprint car series in the world stopped by Tri-State Speedway on Saturday night.

While many fans looked forward to seeing the speed and excitement of the professional and full-time drivers, they also got a local taste.

The series allows local drivers to fill out the remaining spots in the field of the race. Gibson Southern graduate, Adyn Schmidt, got to have his dream come true.

“Growing up watching the Outlaws, half these guys are my heroes. That’s what dreams are made of with being able to come and run against them,” said Schmidt.

Local drivers are able to come up with wins often because they are familiar with the track. Last year, a driver from Indiana won the race in Haubstadt.

It creates an atmosphere where true Cinderella stories can be made.
