HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The city of Sturgis will receive $250,000 from the state of Kentucky to stop water loss. However, Mayor Billy Adams said he doesn’t know when they will receive that money.

Mayor Adams told Eyewitness News that city and county officials have been in contact with Representative Robby Mills regarding state funding for Sturgis. Adams says that $250,000 was budgeted in this legislative session for the city, and the money will go towards three projects in an effort to stop water loss.

Mayor Adams said he was expecting to have the money in July, but they’ve reached a potential setback.

“I had a text message this morning, he told me it had mistakenly got put in the budget for 2025. But they’re working to see if that can be rectified that and get it done for this year.”
