Beshear appoints new mayor for White Plains

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Governor Andy Beshear appointed a new mayor for White Plains after citizens say the former mayor was voted out of the position.

Ben Almon is now officially the mayor of the Hopkins County city. He served as a temporary mayor in August after Joshua Slaton was removed from the position.

State officials told Eyewitness News they were contacted about a potential “misappropriation of funds within city hall. The city council met in September and a motion to appoint a new mayor failed, leaving the decision to the governor.
