HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The city of Sturgis was awarded over $2 million to help improve the city’s waste water treatment plant.

Sturgis Mayor Billy Adams says a federal state partnership called the Delta Regional Authority approved the grant money for the water treatment plant. The Union County Fiscal Court also provided $700,000 towards the project.

Last year, the entire Sturgis City Council resigned amid ongoing financial troubles and the new administration has been criticized for an increase in water rates and poor water quality.
