HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A new update to school attendance law in Kentucky is set to effect repeated absences in the state.

The update to Kentucky’s School Attendance Law can be seen here .

In a message to families regarding the update, Henderson County Schools say the Director of Pupil Personnel will have to notify the county attorney’s office, by filing a petition, whenever a student reaches 15 or more unexcused absences throughout the the academic year.

School officials say it is important to be aware of the county attorney’s potential involvement if a student reaches the 15th unexcused absence.

Any questions or concerns regarding the update is being directed towards school administration.
