Daviess Co. men charged after Gateway Drive shooting

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – According to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO), at approximately 10:07 PM on August 14, Owensboro – Daviess County Central Dispatch received a 911 call reporting that a person had been shot at an apartment in the 4300 block of Gateway Drive in eastern Daviess County.

DCSO says its patrol deputies, two fire departments and an ambulance were dispatched, and upon arrival, deputies located an unconscious male subject in the living room of the apartment with a gunshot wound. Deputies and medical personnel began life saving measures and the victim was transported by ambulance to an Owensboro hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

DCSO says its General Investigation detectives and the Daviess County Coroner’s Office responded to continue the investigation. Deputies say multiple firearms were located in the room where the shooting occurred, including a handgun that was reported stolen out of Owensboro.

Deputies say two subjects that were present during the shooting were taken to DCSO where they were interviewed by detectives. According to DCSO, detectives determined that the victim and two of his friends were smoking marijauna and playing with handguns in an unsafe manner and that a handgun fired striking the victim in the head. Deputies say both subjects were charged and taken to the Daviess County Detention Center.

The suspects are:

Cayden Maxwell Moorman, 21, of Owensboro. Charge: Reckless Homicide

Dalton Kyle Pollard, 20, of Owensboro. Charge: Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
