HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a person killed in a shooting in Owensboro earlier this week.

Authorities were dispatched to the 4300 block of Gateway Drive on Wednesday night after a 911 caller reported that a person had been shot. Upon arrival at the scene, sheriff’s deputies located an unconscious man in the living room with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Sheriff Brad Youngman identified the man as 22-year-old Dawone Howard. Deputies say Howard and two friends, Cayden Maxwell Moorman, 21, and Dalton Kyle Pollard, 20, were smoking marijuana and handling guns when the gun went off and struck Howard in the head. Moorman and Pollard were charged with reckless homicide.
