    Newburgh Town Administrator

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Chris Cooke, the superintendent of city cemeteries in Evansville, will take on the role of Newburgh Town Administrator beginning on August 23.

Cooke is an Evansville native and a graduate of Harrison High School. He is a current board member of theVanderburgh County Historical Society and says his love of history led him to the Indiana Cemetery Association.

“I knew I wanted to work in history at some aspect within my life,” said Cooke. “At Oak Hill , there’s over 72,000 interments and roughly 30,000 over at Locust Hill. That’s over 100,000 stories that we can possibly tell on any given day going back to both 1853 for Oak Hill and 1855 for Locust Hill.”

Looking ahead to his position as town administrator, Cooke says he will still be participating in the history that he loves, just on a bigger stage.
