3-year-old dead after being found unresponsive in swimming pool

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – A death investigation has been opened after a three-year-old child was found unresponsive in a swimming pool in Hopkins County.

This was reported by the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office where officials state on Sunday at about 4:34 p.m. dispatch received a complaint of a medical emergency in the 700 block of Rabbit Ridge Road in Nebo.

It was later determined from different sources that the child was found in the swimming pool and unresponsive.

Officials state individuals had started CPR, and Charleston Volunteer Fire, Med Center Ambulance Service and the sheriff’s office responded. Officials say emergency medical services attempted to render aid, and the child was taken to Baptist Health-Deaconess in Madisonville. The child was pronounced deceased there.

The investigation is still pending with the sheriff’s office, the Hopkins County Coroner’s Office and the local Cabinet for Health and Family Services initiating the investigation.

The sheriff’s office says no further information will be released at this time.
