HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Special Olympics Indiana is calling on “compassionate and motivated” individuals to join its Campaign for Coaches program, a statewide initiative that “empowers athletes with intellectual disabilities to achieve success on and off the field.”

Officials say the program offers comprehensive training to equip volunteer coaches with the skills needed to make an impact in the lives of these athletes.

“With more than 19,000 athletes across the state engaged with Special Olympics Indiana, we
urgently need dedicated coaches to support these aspiring individuals,” said Special Olympics
Indiana President and CEO Jeff Mohler. “Our coaches are the heart of our organization,
providing essential guidance, encouragement, and expertise that enable our athletes to thrive.”

Special Olympics Indiana says the need for coaches is greater than ever, as the number of athletes joining Special Olympics Indiana continues to grow. This presents an opportunity for individuals who are passionate about sports and making a difference in their communities.

“We are reaching out to those who may not yet realize the profound impact they can have as coaches,” Mohler said. “This is a chance to contribute to the development of our athletes, not just in their athletic pursuits but in their confidence and overall well-being.”

As coaches, individuals will play a vital role in helping these athletes develop their abilities, build their self confidence and achieve their goals.
