VANDERBURGH COUNTY, Ind. (WEHT)- Vanderburgh County Commissioners discussed the cancer-causing gas , radon, found in the basement of the Old Courthouse during a press conference on Monday.

Evansville’s Nacho Week moved to November

Officials say that unsafe levels of the gas were recently detected and the EPA says that Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers. The news conference will take place at the Civic Center at 1:30 p.m. to address the environmental findings in the sub-basement of the Old Courthouse.

Due to the recent detection of Radon, “The Old Courthouse Catacombs” haunted house, which has been located in the old courthouse basement for years is now moving to a new location on Main Street, beneath the House of Lecter. The haunted house is scheduled to open September 27.
