Teen passenger dies following overnight accident in Hopkins County

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that one person is dead following an accident on Ilsley Road and St. Charles Road on Thursday.

According to a release, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 112 and Highway 454 for a single vehicle accident at approximately 11:40 p.m.. Authorities say the driver went off the eastbound shoulder of Ilsley Road and struck a tree.

Deputies found the driver conscious and alert outside of the vehicle with what they described as “significant injuries”. The driver, identified by the sheriff’s office as 18-year-old Patience Satterfield, was transported to a trauma center by air medical services.

A passenger in the front seat of the vehicle, identified by the sheriff’s office as 19-year-old Elizabeth Townsell, was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office says the collision is still under investigation.
