EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) – Democratic candidate for Indiana Governor, Jennifer McCormick, hosted a town hall in Evansville Tuesday night, giving voters a chance to hear her take on several hot button topics.

Moderated by Indiana State representative, Ryan Hatfield, McCormick answered a wide range of questions, including some about reproductive rights and the politics of the statehouse.

Other concerns McCormick says she hears from voter’s focus on children and schools.

Being the state’s former Superintendent of Public Instruction, McCormick says she wants to bring the focus back to education.

“We don’t have a statehouse that connects the dots of we need child care. We deserve universal Pre-K. We need to take care of K-12,” says McCormick. “We’ve got to prioritize post high school opportunities.”

While touring the state, McCormick says she hears a lot about affordable housing and wages.

“We are hearing a lot about good paying jobs, ones with benefits and with retirement and pensions they can live off of,” says McCormick.

“When was the last time you heard them say what happens at the statehouse is better. We need balance,” says McCormick. “One party rule results in Hoosiers not having voice.”

But McCormick says, with crowds like these, she is optimistic about change.

I will be voting Blue in November because I will never support or vote for Mike Braun because he is a Donald Trump clone and would be bad for Indiana!
