Cleanup begins at old Pearl Cleaners site

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – More than a year after the historic Pearl Cleaners burned down, the city of Evansville is moving to clean up the lot.

Stemaly Excavating is already at the downtown site after a $49,000 bid. The project is expected to be completed in a few weeks.

The extensive fire last year left debris and a pile or rubble, which the city leaders have described as an eyesore. Earlier this year, first responders had to rescue a man who was trapped in the rubble.
