LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Multiple law enforcement agencies resumed the search for 32-year-old Joseph A. Couch, whom law enforcement named as a suspect after a shooting on I-75 on Saturday.

Mayor Randall Weddle told FOX 56 that a $10,000 reward is offered for information leading to Couch’s arrest in addition to Crime Stoppers’ $5,000 reward.

In a press briefing on Sunday night, authorities revealed that Couch, a former member of the National Guard, legally obtained the gun used in the I-75 shooting.

According to court documents, Couch was arrested in February and charged with third-degree terroristic threatening. He was released on a $1,000 bond and the charges were later dismissed.

Authorities said they were able to access the cliff that Couch was allegedly shooting from, as well as his vehicle and the gun that was believed to be used. However, the search for Couch continues.

Although agencies said they’re confident in their search efforts, they encourage the public to stay vigilant.

“You need to lock your doors, you need to have security cameras. Make sure you’re constantly watching them, maybe keep your porch lights on,” Trooper Scottie Pennington said. “Have communication, have your cell phone, and make sure your phone is charged up because you never know when you might have to contact somebody or law enforcement.”

But the one thing agencies drove home, is that if you see something, say something.

“We want those tips, like the sheriff said, we don’t care if it’s a county over; if it’s the Dollar General Store, you see somebody walking up and down the interstate. We want you to call us and we’re going to answer those calls no matter what,” Pennington said.

Kentucky State Police is set to share an update regarding its search efforts at 3 p.m. You can watch it live here and on Facebook .
