    High speed chase goes through two Kentucky counties

    HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – A suspect is in custody after multiple agencies assist in a high speed chase that started in Webster County and ended in Henderson County late Monday night.

    In a post from the Providence Police Department, it is said officers attempted a traffic stop on East Main Street when James Thomas allegedly failed to stop. Police say Thomas continued traveling west onto Gulf Street and accelerated to “dangerous speeds.”

    Police say the pursuit went down KY 670 to US 41A and 41A to KY 56 East. They say from KY 56, the pursuit continued to Henderson County where the Sheriff’s office took over the pursuit.

    Authorities say they found the vehicle abandoned in a soybean field, near the Robards area.

    After locating the vehicle, police say a K9 officer picked up the the trail and located Thomas several hundred yards away from the vehicle.

    Agencies involved in the chase and search include Providence Police, Sebree Police, Clay Police, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson County Emergency Management Agency, Webster County Towing and Kentucky State Police Post 2 and 16.

    James Thomas is facing the following charges:

    • Improper equipment
    • Reckless driving
    • Fleeing or evading
    • Failure to or improper signal
    • Disregard stop sign
    • Speeding 26 miles or greater
    • Improper passing
    • Failure to maintain insurance
    • Wanton endangerment

    Thomas is currently booked in the Webster County Jail.

    I don’t understand why they don’t set up ahead and throw out spikes to maybe letting him hurt someone else in a high speed chase so long.
