HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – After a three-day trial, a Hopkins County jury returned a guilty verdict for a Madisonville man.

Michael Gibbs was arrested back in 2022 after he and another man, Ronnie Duvall , were accused of raping a victim under the age of 12.

Duvall has already been sentenced to life in prison. Police stated Duvall raped the victim at least ten times. Gibbs was found guilty of multiple similar crimes including rape, and sexual abuse.

Hopkins County Commonwealth Attorney Kathy Senter states Gibbs will have to register as a sex offender for life, is not eligible for probation and will not be eligible for parole until he serves 20 years.

Gibbs is facing a life sentence. Sentencing is set for November 4 at 9 a.m.
