One arrested after a shooting threat made in Owensboro

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Someone was arrested after an alleged shooting threat in Owensboro.

According to the Owensboro Police Department (OPD), at approximately 10:30 a.m. on September 13, OPD received information indicating a shooting threat had been made on social media. Investigators determined the threat indicated a shooting may take place following tonight’s football game between Owensboro Catholic High School and Owensboro High School.

OPD Criminal Investigations detectives along with patrol units were able to identify a suspect. This suspect was taken into custody on September 13, at approximately noon. Officials say at this point in the investigation, there is no evidence to indicate that any other suspects are involved in this threat.

OPD says Israel Carter-Swanagan,18, of Owensboro, was lodged at the Daviess County Detention Center for Terroristic Threatening 2nd degree. OPD says the threat was made on Snapchat and Swanagan is an Owensboro High School student. Swanagan is a cornerback and wide receiver at Owensboro High School.

Police note out of an abundance of caution, there will be more patrols during the Friday night game.
