Owensboro power outage affects businesses & traffic

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — In Owensboro, a large power outage left over a thousand customers without electricity. The outage was located near Frederica Street and West Byers Avenue.

The businesses affected included Fifth Third Bank. Officials say a traffic light also stopped working due to equipment failure.

Crews say a utility pole caught fire forcing the road to close as repairs were made. OMU officials say that traffic light is back up and running.

Without electricity, some businesses were forced to close. The power has since been restored.
