Who’s in the News? Dr. Stephanie Stewart

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Dr. Stephanie Stewart has just been named the new Superintendent of the Metropolitan School District of Mount Vernon.

Dr. Stewart previously served as Principal at Tekoppel Elementary and was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Southern Indiana. There, she led an internship program for future student leaders.

Dr. Stewart’s peers have spoken to her enthusiasm for public education and helping others. Her own mother has said that she is a natural leader.

Dr. Stewart says she knew she would be in public education since first grade. She attributes her love for education in part to her first-grade teacher.

She says that it is important when in her line of work to have a broad skill set. She says her experience as a teacher and a principle was crucial to her success as a superintendent.
