Elected officials step into the boots of firefighters for a day

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Evansville firefighters hosted a hands-on experience for elected officials, community stakeholders and dispatchers to give them a better understanding of everyday firefighting challenges.

The Evansville Fire Department and the Evansville Professional Fire Fighters Local 357 hosted “Fire Ops 101” to immerse participants in real-life fire fighting and EMS scenarios.

Organizers put the participants in the boots of a firefighter for a day in real-life scenarios such as CPR, a car fire, an aerial climb, extrication, forcible entry and more.
