Detectives investigate deadly Owensboro shooting

OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) — Detectives are continuing to investigate the events that led to a fatal shooting early Sunday morning at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Owensboro.

A press release obtained by Eyewitness News says the deceased subject was attending a party at the Knights of Columbus, when a fight broke out involving multiple party guests.

Security guards attempted to break up the fight, which had moved out into the parking lot. Deputies say security guards encountered a man who was armed with a gun. After a brief confrontation, one of the security guards fired his weapon striking the man.

We’re told the security guards remained on the scene and were interviewed by detectives. The weapon that was fired has been taken as evidence.

Deputies say the shooting was captured on video by several witnesses at the scene. An autopsy for the deceased man has been scheduled for Monday morning.
