Juvenile in custody after another shooting threat was made in Owensboro

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – An Emerson Academy student is in custody after another shooting threat was made in Owensboro through the social media platform, Snapchat.

In a post by the Owensboro Police Department, they say the threat was made towards an Apollo High School student over the social media platform. Authorities say the School Resource Officer coordinated with OPD to locate the juvenile for further investigation.

“We urge all community members to actively engage in communicating with our youth that these types of threats are not a joke or funny in any capacity and will have severe consequences,” says OPD. “OPD and school officials take these threats seriously and will take swift action against those who threaten the safety of our children.”

The Emerson Academy student was charged with Terroristic Threatening and has since been released to their parents.
