HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — The new satellite office for the Children’s Advocacy Center of Green River District is hosting a grand opening event in Owensboro.

The grand opening for the satellite office is set for October 1 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. inside the RiverValley Center at 1100 Walnut Street in Owensboro.

According to a release, this center will be 1 of 15 other Children’s Advocacy Centers in Kentucky providing specialized child-friendly forensic interviews, medical exams, therapy and advocacy to children entering the justice system as part of an investigation of abuse.

Officials say Churchill Downs donated $15,000 to the CAC of Green River District to purchase medical equipment for this new satellite center.

“We’re so thankful to RiverValley and Churchill Downs for their commitment to the community,” says Executive Director Samantha Sigler. “This satellite center will help us to meet the growing needs in our area while also assisting in removing barriers for those families that need CAC services.”
