HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – The Kentucky League of Cities (KLC) swore in Beaver Dam mayor Paul Sandefur as the 2024-25 KLC first vice president during a ceremony Thursday night at the 2024 KLC Conference and Expo in Lexington.

Officials say Mayor Sandefur will serve alongside newly elected KLC President Benton Mayor Rita Dotson and Second Vice President Pineville Mayor Scott Madon for the following year.

According to KLC, Mayor Sandefur joined the KLC Board of Directors in 2015 and was appointed to the Executive Board in 2020. He has been an advocate for Kentucky cities, bringing his extensive experience and “passion” for local government to the organization. In his new role, he will work closely with the KLC leadership team to continue advancing the needs of cities across the commonwealth.

“I am honored to serve as the first vice president of the Kentucky League of Cities,” said Mayor Sandefur. “It has been a privilege to work alongside so many dedicated city officials over the years, and I am excited to continue supporting our cities and communities. I look forward to working with President Dotson, Second Vice President Madon, and the KLC team as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Officials explain the KLC represents more than 380 cities across the state and provides advocacy, training and resources to help local governments better serve their communities.
