    Jasper Police say teen drove with 0.223 BAC

    HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Jasper Police arrested a man who they say was driving recklessly on south Newton Street while under the influence.

    According to a release, the Jasper Police Department received a reckless driving complaint about a vehicle making bad passes and speeding on Sunday. Officers say they spotted the suspect vehicle on Newton Street traveling at 88 MPH in a 35 MPH zone.

    The driver was stopped and identified by authorities as Anderson Avelar, 19. Police say Avelar had a blood alcohol content of 0.223%. Officers also say a chemical test indicated the presence of cannabinoids.

    Avelar was booked into the Dubois County Jail and charged with operating while intoxicated with a BAC over 0.15%, operating while intoxicated endangerment, reckless driving, criminal recklessness and minor consumption.
