HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear helped break ground on Rhythm River, a new distillery set to open in Downtown Henderson next year.

Kentucky is known for its bourbon and Henderson is adding to the Commonwealth’s legacy with Rhythm River Distillery, reviving a historic industry downtown at the old HMPL location.

The ground breaking featured Governor Andy Beshear who shares in the excitement of a new chapter of economic development in Western Kentucky.

“Bourbon is America’s native spirit and so it’s important that we make America’s native spirit all over the Commonwealth of Kentucky and now it means people that might have come in for a coupe of days are going to come in for a whole week and no communities left out, everybody’s included,” says Governor Beshear.

The distillery founders, Andrew and Meredith Powell, say this has been in the works for 2 years. The family business is excited to invest into the community they call home.

Rhythm River will be the first distillery in Henderson since World War I. Powell expects to see 30,000 people a year at the new business and is excited to shar their product, noting being included in the Kentucky bourbon trail.

Rhythm River Distillery is set to open in the first quarter of 2025.
