HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – An arrest has been made after an EPD officer fell victim to a theft from his own car.

According to an affidavit, EPD was requested to Normandy Apartments on September 13 at about 4:36 p.m. for a theft report. An EPD sergeant reported that several items were stolen from an officer’s vehicle while parked in the parking lot including a Glock and Taurus handgun, an Axton Enterprises stun gun, a ballistic vest and an EPD hand-held radio.

The affidavit says there was no evidence of forced entry. Security footage was also reportedly reviewed, showing that at about 3:36 a.m., a male, identified as TyDraveon Rebstock, 20, approached from the east and entered the officer’s vehicle. The video showed the officer’s vehicle was unlocked. Footage showed Rebstock ran off but returned at about 3:55 a.m. with two additional suspects. They allegedly opened the trunk and laid out certain items and left at about 4 a.m.

Video showed that the theft was one of two thefts that occurred in that complex that night.

With the footage and evidence, EPD believed that Rebstock used his mother’s vehicle in the crime and two friends were involved.

Rebstock was taken into custody after officers reportedly found him during surveillance. EPD says he had a .45 caliber handgun and over 87 grams of marijuana on him.

He was later booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail without bond.

Sgt. Trudy Day tells Eyewitness News that the officer was talked to about it, but no disciplinary action was deemed necessary.
