18-year-old arrested after allegedly stealing, crashing SUV

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – An 18-year-old is behind bars after allegedly stealing and crashing an SUV in Owensboro.

Owensboro Police reported that at around 1:30 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to an auto theft on Village Run. The witness claimed the suspect was attempting to access to random vehicles before stealing a neighbor’s SUV. The witness reportedly gave a description of what the suspect was wearing, and officers saw a vehicle that matched the description and attempted a traffic stop.

OPD says the vehicle fled going the wrong way on Triplett Street before crashing into a utility pole at W. 5th and Triplett streets. The suspect then allegedly fled on foot before an OPD K9 along with officers and sheriff’s office deputies arrested Terrace Meyer.

Meyer is facing multiple charges including Fleeing and Evading, Reckless Driving and Auto Fleeing.
