HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – The Evansville Police Department wants to remind festivalgoers of some safety tips to ensure a safe and successful Fall Festival.

EPD says it is always a good idea for parents to talk with their child about the large crowds and that there will be numerous police officers and officials that will help if a child should get separated.

EPD says upon arriving, it also a good idea for parents to take a picture of their child/children on their cell phone. That way, it can be shown to an officer to help search.

EPD also says it isn’t a bad idea to have a designated meeting spot for older children and/or adults in the group if someone gets separated.

For general safety, EPD is reminding visitors to remember where one is parked and use a land marker, building or something familiar for reference to avoid wandering around after dark.

EPD is emphasizing to lock vehicle doors and keep all valuables out of sight in the trunk, glove box or somewhere out of view.

Other tips EPD has listed is to wear reflective or bright colored clothing and to always stay hydrated.

EPD has also listed some items that are not allowed at the Fall Festival including:

    • Animals or pets of any type except service animals
    • Glass bottles, jars or containers
    • Squirt guns of any type or water balloons
    • Bicycles, scooters, skateboards and roller blades
    • Drones
    • Fireworks
    • Masks
